WHEN?
On Chaitra Shukla Navami ‘Srirama Navami’ is celebrated to commemorate the birth of
Shri Ram. This year on 30th march we celebrate this auspicious occasion.
WHY?
It indicates the victory of good over evil and indication of DHARMA beats Adharma.
HOW?
In many places around India, it is celebrated by performing the Kalyanam/marriage of Sri Rama and Sitadevi. It's celebrated in temples and also at local pandals.People visit the pooja places on this day to witness the kalyanam/marriage of Rama with Sita. Puranas indicate its fortunate to participate / witness this pooja.
On this day, People also worship Lord Rama in their houses by doing pooja and chanting "Rama Rama" mantra, which gives positive energy.
OFFERINGS / PRASADAM
1) PANAKAM:
Ingredients Required:
- Powdered jaggery
- Water
- Green Cardamom Powder
- Dry ginger Powder
Preparation:
- Add jaggery powder to water and let it dissolve for 10 minutes.
- Once dissolved, strain if any impurities.
- Add Cardamom and dry ginger powder for flavor.
- Serve it at room temperature.

2) VADAPAPPU:
This is the most simplest and widely offered prasadam in all temples on this promising day.
Ingredients Required:
- Moongdal
- Water
Preparation:
Soak Moong Dal for 2 hours in water. Then drain off the water and serve it .You can add grated coconut for extra flavor.
Badrachalam, is a place situated in Telangana which is famous for temple of Lord Rama.
In Badrachalam, the concept of offering Goti Talambralu (peeling paddy using fingers) as
akshithalu to Lord Ramachandra Swamy and Goddess Sita during their celestial wedding is a custom which started 18 years ago.
The paddy which is specially grown for this occasion will be peeled by devotes using their hands without any usage of machinery & is offered to God. In 2022, quantity of Goti Talambralu crossed 600kg.
